Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 2

Got the re-washed block, cam, and crank back from the very apologetic machine shop on Friday. Today I had time to clean up the pistons/rings/bearings and get the bottom end put back together.

Kinja'd!!!

So far so good this time around. Work is crazy right now so it’ll be a while before I have time to make any more progress. Some day I might even be able to finally measure for the damn pushrods.

Did he say how or why they didn’t clean the block the first time?

They cleaned it but somehow all those chips were still in the water jacket. No certain reason but their guess is that the new solvent they use (old stuff is no longer on the market because environment) doesn’t last as long as the old stuff and it was getting to the end of its life. I don’t know that that would fully explain it but that’s the answer I got. As much as fell out before, plus having been washed again, I’d be surprised if there is any in there still (regardless of solvent content when washed).
